PODCASTS

I am learning about podcasts using PodcastAlley and Odeo websites. I searched for my old mom on the words "library" and "web design" and found more hits with PodcastAlley. I didn't find Odeo helpful- I would rather go on an "Oreo Cookie Search" than a "Odeo" search anyday. Maybe instead "a Rodeo" would be fun. The podcasts that interest my mom were: PALINET Technology Updates and News for Web Designers. I didnot include the web addresses because you need to be on PodcastAlley site to read their content. I put the podcast that interests me on my sidebar "The Puppy Blog".

WELCOME HOME MICHELE!

Beach custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more - ImageChef.com
Michele, my sister from California will be Home for the Holidays Tonight! Woof!
My 2 moms, sisters and brother will be happy to see her! I have to remember not to jump on her or I will be sprayed with cold water.
She has only seen me as a puppy so she will be impressed with me just like the "pupparazzi" are!

YOU TUBE IS FUN!

I explored You Tube and there are some really funny pet videos. I also watched a tutorial video on "how to convert a Powerpoint slide show to a video with special software". I tried it and  here is the my YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8iWaBKXBfw
I like the variety of videos- you can find on Youtube. You can find a video on any topic, just do a search and see what pops up. I dislike it when you start watching a video and you think it is going to be an interesting and instead it turns out to be gross and raunchy. Sometimes you wonder why people make such videos. The library could use Youtube for publicity and as a learning tool.
My Youtube video still needs some work. WOOF to that!

MY SPACE, FACEBOOK AND MICROBLOGGING

Doing some sniffing around and exploring MySpace Library Pages for Teens.
My favorite was Scott County. It was easy to read and the colors were not dark and wild. It was informative about books, movies, calendar events and it contained a link to catalog. Other features - that I would like to see are "Ask a Librarian" online chat, link to website and photos of library buildings in system or teen events presented in slide show with effects.
West Chester Public Library has an attractive and informative My Space and Facebook page. I was impressed with both.

Microblogging could be used as a publicity tool for library events. Since most sites restrict the # of characters per blog. You can use this utility "tiny url" to shorten the web link. Monroe County Library System had a good Twitter site. I set up a Twitter site for myself. http://twitter.com/ace213. Look in the sidebar to see my last 2 Twitter updates or Visit my Twitter site.

MY FIRST CHRISTMAS

I helped with putting the tree and lights up last night. I have a stocking hung on the fireplace. I tried to eat tree decorations but my "young mom" and my sister removed them from my mouth. I also had fun chewing on the trees' branches - it is an artificial tree so it doesn't taste very good but my chewing really got my "young mom" and sister stirred up. Yelling and jumping around.... Fun to watch! Check out my collage of photos. I included photos of the darn cats!!! I know their hiding spots.

NEW COLLAGE OF ME (OF COURSE!)

I looked at the Web 2.0 award short list; reviewed Picnik (Photos and Digital Images) and Fluxiom (Digital storage & Remote Access). I connected Picnik with my FlickR account. I made a simple collage of ME (of course) and MY MOMS. I used a free template - some cost $. I was able to put holiday hats on all of us. Looks pretty funny- what do you think?

I used Fluxiom which provides 100 MB of free storage space for my files. You can zip the files too! My old mom at the library could use this site instead of the drives: P, S and Y.

PHOTOS OF ME , ME ,ME - IT'S ALL ABOUT ME...

I used an online application called Zoho writer and created the above scrapbook of my life so far. I noticed there was some lag time between my "pawstrokes" and my computer screen .
I also was unable to publish directly to my blog( ace213.blogspot.com) from the YoYo writer - I mean "Zoho writer". When I tried to export to PDF and Word format - the format of the photos and words always changed and looked bad. All my work went out the window. Not impressed with using Zoho writer. Google Docs seemed user friendly but didn't have all the extra fancy functions of Zoho writer but then again all those fancy functions didn't work for me.

Check out what I created with Microsoft Publisher on my computer. Look below.

PAWPRINT IN THE SAND

I went to " CCLS 23 things wiki" and put my paw print in the sandbox - glad it wasn't cat litterbox- YUCK! SMELLY STUFF.

I added to the Favorites Books, Restaurants, etc. and added Favorite Music and my favorite song " "Dangerous".

Enjoy the cartoon. Damn Cats- Always laughing at me because I have to go outside in the rainy weather and they don't have to. They have their all weather litterbox. Sorry Mom - I cussed - how about "Darn cats!"?

WIKIS AND MORE

I found the example – Bull Run Library – the most interesting but wonder why a library would need both a website and a wiki. Just one more thing to keep up to date and most of the information is on website.

Here is an excellent slide show that tells you about Wikis and their use in libraries
Wikiing in your library: a practical overview - http://weblogs.elearning.ubc.ca/physio/barsky-wiki-vall.pdf A wiki is really a type of website that allows the visitors themselves to easily add, remove and otherwise edit and change some available content, sometimes without the need for registration. A Wiki is an excellent library tool for internal projects collaboration, internal brainstorming and ideas sharing. My old mom could use a wiki as a websmaster to collaborate with other Content Management System users.

In my research on wikis, I joined a Wiki for Rescue dogs and here is one on their badges to put on websites. The site is http://www.wikifido.com/ using WetPaint, a site which provides free wikis & websites.

I love this cartoon about Wet Paint so enjoy.
